The Mets haven't yet named a starter for Saturday's game against the Phillies and manager Jerry Manuel says there's an "outside" chance left-hander Oliver Perez will pitch.
"Every day I get ready for anything," Perez said. "I work every day to get back to where I was before."
Perez has not pitched since Aug. 1 or started for the Mets since May 14.
"I think he can give us 70 pitches, 80 max," pitching coach Dan Warthen said. "We've gotta figure out his true arm strength. His delivery is not an issue. We just have to see what he has."
