If Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin had it to do over again, he would have never traded Doug Davis. Melvin made up for that mistake by signing him this week. "He's got durability," Melvin said of Davis. "I've always admired how he takes the ball and gets the most out of his stuff." "I'm excited to be coming back," said Davis, who bounced back from thyroid cancer in 2008. "It's great news. I'm looking forward to it. "I think I'll be a good addition to the pitching staff there and give us a chance to win. Being familiar with the city and the team will help a lot." As for Melvin's persistent efforts to reacquire him, Davis said, "I appreciate that. He drafted me way back in the day (with Texas). He's always been there for me. "Since Day 1 when I became a free agent, I was always looking at the Brewers. I've always wanted to come back." Melvin also tried to deal for Davis twice last season.
