Dominic DiMaggio, the former Red Sox center fielder, died early Friday at his Massachusetts home at age 92.
DiMaggio was a seven-time All-Star, but was overshadowed by his older brother Joe's Hall of Fame career with the Yankees.
"He was the most wonderful, warm, loving man," his wife of 61 years said. "He adored his children, and we all adored him."
DiMaggio hit safely in 34 consecutive games in 1949, but had the streak broken by his brother Joe on Aug. 9.
