Johnny Damon famously made recruiting calls to A.J. Burnett before the free agent pitcher signed with the Yankees, but it has been reported that he had a role in CC Sabathia's signing, as well. Damon's wife Michelle helped out in the Sabathia chase by texting CC's wife Amber to answer questions so that the California-based Sabathia family would feel comfortable with a move to New York. "We're feeling pretty good, but I think it's up to the rest of us to make sure we are not complacent about it, make sure we go out and get our work done in spring training, and following [manager Joe] Girardi's lead and get ourselves in the best shape that we can so we can bring a championship back to New York," Damon said.
