Cincinnati outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. hit the 598th home run of his Major League career on Thursday night in a loss to San Diego, according to The Associated Press. The two-run bomb was the first Griffey hit in his last 90 at-bats, the second longest drought of his career. He's close to becoming just the sixth player in history to smack 600 home runs. "He's swinging the bat pretty good," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "He's getting close to getting his stride together. Now we have to get some other guys to get their strokes together." The Reds have lost four straight games.
