He received a $1.4 million signing bonus from the Mets. Havens previously turned down a $1.35 million offer to sign with Boston when he was selected out of high school. He was considered one of the best high school players in the country. - He was born on October 20th, 1986, bats left, throws right and stands 6'1", 195 lbs. - Havens has an excellent approach and fundamentals at the plate. He projects to be a solid contact hitter with occasional flashes of power. - Havens hit .247/.340/.471 in just 85 low-A at bats in 2008. - He has been plagued by various injuries since signing with the Mets, with a hamstring, elbow and groin. - Havens is unlikely to remain at shortstop and could move anywhere from third, second to even catcher. - He has been frequently compared to Daniel Murphy.
