Return to MLB Prospect index Tim Alderson - RHP Tim Alderson Scouting Report - Alderson was the 22nd overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft. - Born November 3rd, 1988 and attended Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. - Alderson is 6'7" and weighs 210 lbs. - He pitched in high Single-A during the 2008 season for San Jose, posting a 2.79 ERA with 124 strikeouts and just 34 walks in 145.1 innings. His WHIP of 1.09 was also very good. - Had a SWHIP of 0.269 in 2008. - Closed the 2008 season with allowing just one walk over his final 37 innings. - Alderson's fastball is in the low 90's and he has an excellent curve, which will probably be his best pitch. He clearly won't be a dominant strikeout pitcher on any level, but his command and ability to keep the ball down will allow him to be very consistently effective. - Ranked 60th overall by Baseball Prospectus in their Top 100 Prospects for 2009.
