The St. Louis Cardinals have placed Yadier Molina on the disabled list with a right knee sprain.
Molina is a National League MVP candidate and St. Louis may be forced to target a catcher to help fill the void.
The Cardinals have been linked to the Chicago Cubs and Dioner Navarro.

The Chicago White Sox outfielder was able to walk off the field under his own power.
After the game, the team revealed that Rios has a contusion on the top of his left foot. Not expected to be serious, but he will have X-rays.
Brandon Beachy will make his first start of the season for the Atlanta Braves on Monday night against the Colorado Rockies.
Beachy had right elbow ligament-replacement surgery in June 2012.
He was 5-5, led the NL with a 2.00 ERA, and appeared bound for an All-Star appearance when his 2012 season ended after 13 starts.
Fredi Gonzalez said Beachy's return to the rotation "is like getting a big piece in a trade at deadline."
The Los Angeles Angels have placed Albert Pujols on the disabled list with a tear in his left foot that could end his season.
Mike Scioscia said the star will be sidelined for "a significant amount of time."
Pujols has a partially torn plantar fascia, an injury that has bothered him most of the season.

Mike Scioscia said "we'll see" when asked if Pujols would be out of the lineup for more than a day.
Pujols has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot all season, but until now, it had been manageable.
He has gone 12-for-34 with a couple of homers since the All-Star break, but said prior to Friday's game that the foot feels "the same," adding: "I still feel some pain. I still feel it bothering me a bit. That's something that in the offseason, with time and with rest, hopefully the pain can go away."
Derek Jeter played a simulated game on Saturday and if he feels good Sunday, he will start for the New York Yankees.
Jeter missed the first 91 games of the season with a fractured left ankle, before making his debut on July 11. He went 1-for-4, but suffered a quadriceps strain running the bases and landed back on the disabled list.
"(He) ran first to third, singles, second to home, had him stand and take ground balls, and kind of stand there -- simulate as much of the game (as possible)," Joe Girardi said.
"Because the one thing that you can talk about is, you can be in tremendous shape, but playing shape is a little bit different. Cause you gotta get used to standing around, starting and stopping. So we had him do all that, and as of right now, he came out very well. So we'll see how he feels tomorrow."
Marlins rookie outfielder Marcell Ozuna will miss the rest of the season because of a left thumb injury, according to an ESPN.com report.
Ozuna was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to Tuesday and was scheduled to undergo surgery Friday in Miami.

Berkman said Thursday that's he thought about retiring or not coming back this season, but hasn't made a final decision.
The Dallas Morning News first reported Berkman was considering retirement.
The Alex Rodriguez-Yankees soap opera continued on Thursday, culminating in A-Rod again declaring he was ready to play but, since he is just "an employee," that he would accept the Yankees' plan to have him start a rehab assignment August 1.
If all goes according to plan with the quad and if he is not suspended in the interim, A-Rod could return to the Yankees soon after August 1, according to an ESPN.com report.
