With plans in place to to set his rotation for the postseason, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa must now decide who will fill the fourth slot. The Cardinals adjusted their rotation, starting with Cincinnati tonight, to have Chris Carpenter, Mark Mulder and Jeff Suppan for the first three games of the playoffs. Eventually they'll have to decide between Matt Morris and Jason Marquis, although the coaches haven't talked to either about playoff roles, yet. "I think it's going to be tough," La Russa told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "It's one of those really good problems to have. It means you have five [good starters]. What that has meant for us to win 90-plus games. If we didn't have five, then we wouldn't have a decision. But if we didn't have five, we wouldn't have 90 [wins] right now. "The guy who doesn't go into the rotation is going to have a tough pill to swallow. All five guys are very competitive and very proud off their contributions. It's going to be tough to take." Morris, who was 10-1 on July 4, has gone 4-8 since. He is tentatively scheduled to start Oct. 2, the final game at Busch Stadium. Marquis had only one win in his previous 13 starts before winning three of his last four.
