Indians' General Manager Mark Shapiro is preparing a contract for C.C. Sabathia, one of the favorites to win the American League Cy Young award next week. The first people to see the contract won't be Sabathia and his agents; they'll be Indians' owner Larry Dolan and his son Paul, the team president. "We're working on something to put in front of ownership, and we'll go from there," said Shapiro on Wednesday at the general managers' meetings. Sabathia, 27, went 19-7 this year with a 3.21 ERA. He led the big leagues with 241 innings pitched, the first Tribe pitcher to do so since Bob Feller in 1947. Sabathia, the Indians' No. 1 pick in 1998, will enter his free-agent year in 2008.
