The Orioles today announced the hiring of Dave Jauss as bench coach for the 2008 season. Jauss spent the past two seasons as bench coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers under manager Grady Little following 10 years in various capacities with the Boston Red Sox. In 1995, he served as coordinator of minor league instruction for the Orioles before going to Boston as a major league advance scout during the 1996 season. He served as first base coach for the Sox for three years, 1997-99, before becoming their minor league field coordinator in 2000-01. He was Boston's director of player development in 2002 before returning to service as the team's advance scout for three years, 2003-05. He joined Little's coaching staff in Los Angeles prior to the 2006 season.
