Sam Perlozzo returned to the Seattle Mariners as third base coach Tuesday, completing manager John McLaren's revamped staff. Perlozzo, fired as manager of the Baltimore Orioles in June, joins new pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre, bench coach Jim Riggleman, bullpen coach Norm Charlton and first base coach Eddie Rodriguez for McLaren's first spring training as a major-league manager in February. Hitting coach Jeff Pentland will be the only coach returning from 2007, Seattle's sixth consecutive season without a postseason appearance. "The staff Mac has assembled is one of the best in baseball," general manager Bill Bavasi said. "They are all winners with a terrific work ethic and the experience necessary to help our club take the next step."
