Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells will have surgery on his left shoulder after the season ends to have a cyst removed, ESPN's website is reporting.
The cyst has been present for some time, according to espn.com, and the Blue Jays were aware of it when Wells signed a seven-year, $126 million deal after the 2006 season when Wells hit .303 with 32 homers and 106 RBIs. Wells has struggled this year, hitting .251 with 16 homers and 79 RBIs.
