Roger Clemens will rejoin the Yankees in Toronto today, taking another step toward a possible return this weekend at Fenway Park. Clemens, who didn't return calls or e-mails from Joe Torre over the weekend, spoke with Brian Cashman yesterday, telling the GM that his sore right elbow was feeling better.
Cashman said Clemens threw two "light" side sessions in Houston over the weekend, his first times throwing off a mound since he got a cortisone shot in his elbow last Tuesday.
"He reported that he was feeling fine," Cashman said.
Clemens will throw a full bullpen session today at the Rogers Centre in front of the Yankees' coaching staff, at which time his status will be evaluated for the weekend. Clemens is tentatively lined up to face Curt Schilling on Sunday night in the final regular-season meeting between the Yankees and Red Sox.
