Mike Cameron, who spent the night at San Diego's Mercy Hospital, was transferred to Scripps Clinic in nearby La Jolla for surgery to repair multiple fractures in both cheekbones Friday night. He also suffered a Grade 1 concussion and a broken nose, and after recovering from surgery, Cameron won't be cleared to travel for at least another week. As for when he might rejoin the Mets, that is yet to be determined. Cliff Floyd spoke to Cameron late Thursday and not only was relieved to hear him so upbeat but thrilled that he plans to return this season. "He said he was going to play again this year, so that's a positive," Floyd said Friday afternoon. "If we're in this thing, then we need him to come back. If not, then he needs to think about that. It's all going to boil down to how he recovers. He's one of those strong-minded types that it's going to take a lot to prevent him from getting back on the field."
