The New York Post reported that Shingo Takatsu has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Mets and will be in Triple-A Norfolk on Friday. In 31 games with the White Sox this season, Takatsu went 1-2 with a 5.97 ERA and eight saves. In 2004, he had a 2.31 ERA and 19 saves. "It's going to be a 2?-week tryout," Takatsu's agent, Joe Urbon, told the Post. Teams must set their playoff rosters by the end of August.
