If General Manager Wayne Krivsky is trying to trade Griffey by the July 31 deadline, he hasn't asked Griffey or his Cincinnati-based agent, Brian Goldberg, for permission. As a 10-and-5 player (10 years or more in the majors, five or more with his current team), Griffey can say no to any trade. "On my end, not a thing is happening and we haven't heard a word," said Goldberg. "No conversations with the Reds." Several major-league scouts say the Reds are not offering Griffey in any talks.
