Aaron Judge could return to the lineup for the New York Yankees as early as Friday.

Sidelined since early June with a toe injury, Judge played another simulated game Wednesday at the team's complex in Tampa, Florida. He returned to New York after that, Aaron Boone said.

Boone said he didn't know yet if Judge would come off the injured list Friday to face the Baltimore Orioles.

"We'll kind of see where we're at tomorrow," Boone said. "I'm not sure if he's going to run through a workout or if rehab stuff's on the table. I don't know that yet. When I talk to him and get with the trainers we'll come up with a plan."

Earlier Wednesday, the New York Post reported Judge is expected to be activated Friday barring a late setback.
