The Houston Astros are exploring contract extensions with a number of arbitration-eligible players.

"I told (owner Jim Crane), 'Fasten your seatbelt. It's time,'" new general manager Dana Brown told the Houston Chronicle.

The Astros hired Brown away from the Atlanta Braves, who have had tremendous success signing young players to affordable long-term contracts.

Cristian Javier, Kyle Tucker and Framber Valdez are the club's most notable arbitration-eligible players and all three will be free agents after the 2025 season.

Jeremy Pena, the 2022 ALCS and World Series MVP, won't be a free agent until after the 2027 season but could be an extension candidate as well.
