Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno says he hopes to keep Shohei Ohtani as the two-way superstar enters the final year of his contract.

Ohtani will make $30 million this season under his final year of team control.

"I'd like to keep Ohtani," Moreno said of the 2021 American League MVP. "He's one of a kind, he's a great person. He's obviously one of the most popular baseball players in the world, and he's an international star. He's a great teammate. He works hard. He's a funny guy, and he has a really good rapport with fans."

The Angels have endured seven-straight losing seasons and have missed the playoffs in each of the last eight years.
