The Kansas City Royals remain open to bringing Zack Greinke back, but the veteran pitcher would likely have to take an incentive-laden contract to return.

Such a deal would have a low base salary, but allow Greinke to earn much more through performance-based incentives.

It was reported in November that Greinke planned to return for a 20th Major League season.

The 39-year-old had a 3.68 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 137 innings for the Royals this past season.
