Some details have emerged about the massive $313.5 million contract extension Rafael Devers signed with the Boston Red Sox.

The deal, which keeps Devers under contract into his 30s, bought out ten would-be free agent seasons.

According to a report, the deal was structured to go into effect for the 2024 campaign, a notable development for luxury tax purposes.

Devers' deal will come with a $17.5 million tax hit for the 2023 season -- reflecting his previous one-year agreement -- before recalculating for the 2024-33 campaigns bought out by the extension.
