The Toronto Blue Jays added a second left-handed pitcher to their bullpen yesterday purchasing the contract of Scott Downs from triple-A Syracuse.
"He's a true long guy," said Jays manager John Gibbons. "He's got some finesse about him, he can chew up some innings and he's not a max-effort guy. . . . With 12 pitchers, the 12th guy is not going to get much work any ways, so he can be like a second lefty."
