Jacob deGrom says he's healthy and that he plans to opt out of his contract with the New York Mets after this season.

A forearm and elbow issue limited deGrom to just 15 starts in 2021.

"I have been told my UCL is perfectly fine," deGrom said.

He will earn $33.5 million this season and can opt out of his $30.5 million salary in 2023. The pitcher was a candidate for an extension, but he intends to wait until after the season to discuss a new contract.

"I love being a Met, it would be really cool to be one for my entire career," deGrom said.
