Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association remain far apart in labor talks as the scheduled start of 2022 spring training nears.

Over the past couple weeks the two sides have returned to the negotiating table on core economics issues, but there has been little progress.

According to a report, the possibility of spring training beginning as originally scheduled "is clearly in jeopardy."

Multiple reports over the course of the lockout have suggested March 1 could serve as a soft deadline for a new collective bargaining agreement to be in place if the season is to open on the currently-slated March 31.
