The San Diego Padres are focused on adding veteran pitching this offseason and Marcus Stroman has been "mentioned" in "preliminary deliberations," according to a report.

San Diego has a full rotation with Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, Joe Musgrove, Chris Paddack, and (returning from Tommy John surgery) Mike Clevinger, plus Dinelson Lamet and Ryan Weathers. However, the group carries a number of injury concerns.

After opting out of the 2020 season and then accepting the New York Mets' qualifying offer for 2021, Stroman had a 3.02 ERA over 179 IP this season.
