After being away from the mound for 18 months, it didn't take Michael Kopech long to reach 100 mph.

"Yeah, I might have been a little geeked," the Chicago White Sox right-hander said.

Kopech threw 11 pitches against the Texas Rangers in Cactus League play -- and six of them reached 100 mph.

It was the 23-year-old's first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in September 2018.

"The first two pitches, I felt out of control," he said. "By the third pitch, I took a breath and settled back in. But I still had quite a bit of adrenaline going."
