Steve Cohen's reported $2.6 billion bid to purchase the New York Mets is falling apart.

According to multiple source, the hedge fund manager is ending talks with the Wilpon family on his purchase of an 80 percent stake in the franchise.

Cohen is unhappy with the Wilpons changing the terms of the deal in the late stages.

The Mets issued a denial statement on Tuesday: "The parties are subject to confidentiality obligations, including a mutual non-disclosure agreement, and therefore cannot comment."
