Alex Cora was named by Rob Manfred as a primary participant in the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scheme of 2017 and may face future discipline for his role upon the completion of an ongoing investigation into a similar scheme allegedly used by the Red Sox during Boston's World Series championship season of 2018.

The Red Sox organization could face punishment as well.

In multiple portions of his report, Manfred cited Cora being a major part of the 2017 system in Houston, which resulted in year-long bans for A.J. Hinch and Jeff Luhnow. Houston was also fined $5 million and will lose first-round picks in 2020 and 2021.
