The Minnesota Twins defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-1 on Wednesday night and clinched their first American League Central title since 2010.

The division title was officially clinched when the Cleveland Indians lost to the Chicago White Sox later in the evening.

The Twins will be in the playoffs for just the second time since 2010.

"It's wonderful to see people achieve their goals and their dreams and reach these types of points," Rocco Baldelli said. "This is a very big mark. It's something that we shoot for. You can't play beyond this until you get to this point, and knowing that we have an opportunity to play for a World Series is exactly where we want to be right now."
