After acquiring him over the weekend, the New York Yankees had Edwin Encarnacion in the lineup for the first time on Monday night.

Encarnacion went 0-for-4 in his debut, but the Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0.

"I saw a lot of pitches. I feel good," Encarnacion said. "I just missed a couple pitches that I know I can hit good. But this is part of the game. I'll get them tomorrow."

New York acquired him from the Seattle Mariners, who started hot but are now 10 games back in their division. The Yankees will give him a chance to enjoy postseason baseball.

“I can’t wait to see that," Encarnacion said. "It’s going to be fun. I know we are going to hit a lot of home runs, and we’re going to win a lot of games, too."
