Jorge Lopez nearly made Major League history in Saturday's game between the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins.

Making his seventh start, Lopez fell three outs short of a perfect game.

He walked Max Kepler to start the ninth, ending his chances at history. There have been just 23 perfect games in history.

Over eight innings, Lopez threw 110 pitches. He struck out four, walked one and allowed one run on a single hit.

Kansas City acquired Lopez from the Milwaukee Brewers a few weeks ago in the Mike Moustakas trade.
