The Chicago Cubs have acquired Cole Hamels from the Texas Rangers for a group on minor league prospects, according to sources.

The deal is pending physicals for all players involved.

The Cubs increased their efforts to acquire Hamels after the Toronto Blue Jays sent J.A. Happ to the New York Yankees.
