The Toronto Blue Jays are being "extra cautious" with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and have placed him on the seven-day disabled list with a leg injury.

Keith Law of ESPN has ranked Guerrero as baseball's No. 2 prospect.

Guerrero, at Double-A New Hampshire, has the highest batting average (.407) in the Minor Leagues.

He left the Fisher Cats' Wednesday game against Akron with the injury.

"For us, it's just about being extra cautious given that the injury occurred last Saturday and when he came back there was a little bit of a setback," Blue Jays director of player development Gil Kim said.

"We're just being extra cautious. It's not expected to be anything serious."
