The Philadelphia Phillies will receive a formal warning letter from Major League Baseball following an unusual situation during Saturday's game.

Gabe Kapler seemingly called on reliever Hoby Milner without warning and the league ruled that home plate umpire Jerry Layne was right to allow Milner some extra warm-up pitches. Milner wasn't even up in the bullpen when called upon.

The Atlanta Braves objected to Milner being allowed any warm-up pitches after being called into the game.

Over their first three games of the season, the Phillies have used 21 pitchers.
