The New York Yankees acquired Giancarlo Stanton in a massive trade with the Miami Marlins this offseason, but they also considered fortifying their starting rotation.

The Yankees inquired about Yu Darvish, but weren't seriously interested when his price didn't drop. Gerrit Cole was an option as well, but the Pittsburgh Pirates preferred the package they were offered by the Houston Astros.

The New York Post reports that they also talked with the Cleveland Indians about Danny Salazar.

"We definitely tried to improve pitching, but nothing lined up with all parties," Brian Cashman said.
