Before Andrew Cashner agreed to terms on a contract with the Baltimore Orioles, he requested some assurances.

Cashner received a two-year, $16 million deal from the Orioles after ownership approved him keeping his trademark beard, provided it remains trimmed.

The Orioles typically outlaw facial hair outside of a manicured goatee.

"I just think it's a part of who I am, and it's a part of my personality — it's just me," Cashner said. "I think this length is kind of what it's supposed to be, I guess."

Cashner had to shave when he was a member of the Miami Marlins and wasn't willing to join an organization that would make him do so again.
