The New York Yankees have hired Aaron Boone as manager.

Boone will replace Joe Girardi, who had been in the job since 2008.

San Francisco Giants bench coach Hensley "Bam Bam" Meulens was the other finalist for the job.

Boone has worked in broadcasting since retiring as a player.
