Scott Boras expects the Arizona Diamondbacks to be involved in the bidding for J.D. Martinez this offseason.

There are questions as to whether owner Ken Kendrick can afford to keep Martinez.

"He's been a very competitive owner, a good owner in that way," Boras said. "The great thing is it's rare in free agency where you get a chance to see the player perform in your market and with your team. What a determined player. He's diligent. He's driven, no doubt."

Martinez, 30, is coming off a career season and early indications are that Boras will seek a contract in the $200 million range.
