The New York Mets have traded Lucas Duda to the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league pitcher Drew Smith.

The Rays will be responsible for all of Duda's remaining $2.5 million salary, according to a report.

Duda is expected to be in the lineup as the Rays' designated hitter on Friday night.

"He's got a long red-eye flight tonight. He'll get in here, and the plan is to DH him tomorrow," Kevin Cash said. "If you think that you're adding a guy like that here with two months, that's a pretty special bat to get."
