Left-hander Oliver Perez, out at least six weeks with a broken toe, was fined by the Pirates for the outburst that led to his injury, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported. General manager Dave Littlefield said Perez was disciplined and fined an undisclosed amount by the Pirates for breaking his left toe June 26 by kicking a laundry cart in the clubhouse after a sub-par performance at the Cardinals. "We understand he's very competitive and passionate," Littlefield told the paper. "That's something that's important to have to be a good player. But also being mature and professional are a part of it as well. "He has to understand that type of action that took place doesn't do anybody any good."
