Jose Bautista could be headed to the disabled list with a sore shoulder after making an ill-advised throw earlier this week.

"If he doesn't show much progress the next couple of days, it is always a possibility," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "As of [Wednesday], it's just a sore shoulder. ... Today he couldn't throw a baseball."

Bautista did not play Wednesday or Thursday but said he was feeling much better Thursday.

The slugger stressed his right shoulder muscles trying to throw out a runner at first base in the eighth inning of the Jays' 13-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.

"I probably shouldn't have made that throw," Bautista said. "I hate to say it, and I think it's weird when hockey does it, but I'm day to day. I have to see how [Thursday] feels. I can't jump ahead and say I'll be ready to hit in two days. My shoulder is sore right now, and that's all I can say."
