The Seattle Mariners are nearing a deal with John Buck.

The 33-year-old played out the last year of a three-year, $18 million contract last season.

Buck raced out to a hot start in 2013 -- he had a .844 OPS and 9 home runs in April -- but faded over the course of the year.
