The New York Yankees have signed infielder Brendan Ryan to a two-year contract extending through the 2015 season with a mutual option for 2016.

Ryan, 31, batted .220 (13-for-59) with one home run in 17 games with the Yankees in 2013, starting each of the club’s final 17 games of the season at shortstop after being acquired from Seattle on September 10 in exchange for a player to be named later. In 87 games with the Mariners, he hit .192 (50-for-260) with 23 runs, 10 doubles, three home runs and 21RBI.
