The Kansas City Royals have extended the qualifying offer to Ervin Santana.

Santana can accept and make $14.1 million for 2014, or reject and sign a long-term deal on the open market.

The right-hander had a 3.24 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 211 innings for the Royals in 2013.
