The Los Angeles Angels will look to add pitching this winter and may be able to acquire an arm without trading players like Mark Trumbo or Howie Kendrick.

They could make a run at Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, whom scouts project as a No. 2 or No. 3 starter.

"I don't think he has the creativity and the multiple weapons of [Yu] Darvish, but [Hiroki] Kuroda is a really good comparison," one scout said. "He has three good pitches, and his splitter is a legitimate out pitch."
