The New York Yankees could be without Brett Gardner for the remainder of the season with a rib cage injury.

Gardner left Thursday night's win over the Baltimore Orioles with what Joe Girardi characterized as a "Grade 1 strain in his rib cage."

"He's going to be out a while," Girardi said. "Rib cages don't heal real quick. It's not like it's just a few days. Is it possible it could be the rest of the year? Yeah."

Gardner is hitting .273/.344/.416 with eight home runs, 52 RBI and 24 stolen bases.
