When Brian McCann returns from the disabled list, the Atlanta Braves will have three catchers all in need of playing time.

The Braves also have Evan Gattis and Gerald Laird at the position.

As things currently stand, Gattis would not be send down to Triple-A Gwinnett to serve as the everyday catcher. He has surprised with six home runs and 14 RBIs in 72 at-bats this season.

"Gattis hasn't given us any reason for him not to [stay]," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He's hit at the Major League level. He's got six home runs. There's no reason for him to go to Triple-A. We'll see how that dynamic works."
