The Diamondbacks and J.J. Putz have agreed to a two-year, $13.5 million deal.

The agreement adds a $7 million salary to Putz's contract for 2014.

Arizona exercised the reliever's $6.5 million option on Oct. 20 and he would have been eligible for free agency after the 2013 season.

"J.J. has provided much-needed leadership and stability for our bullpen the last two years," Kevin Towers said. "He has been an integral piece and helped set the foundation for our bullpen's turnaround so we are excited to have him in place the next two seasons."
