Brandon Phillips has hinted on Twitter that he may play for Team USA at the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Phillips tweeted: "#YeaBuddy... Just got a surprise call from one of the GREATEST @MLB's player/manager #JoeTorre! It was an #HONOR to talk to him! #WBC"

Joe Torre, the former Yankees manager, will be the skipper for the American squad in the Classic. Rosters have yet to be formally announced.
